To mark the day, the firm has implemented a number of initiatives to celebrate women and its female employees. Among the activities planned is a profile campaign of their female employees, which includes an IWD e-zine and Q&A with some of the firms’ key female employees. The firm will also host a breakfast morning for clients with a talk from Beoga Nutrition. In addition, this week each of their clients is to receive a celebratory IWD card.

The theme for International Women’s Day 2020 is “Each for Equal” – something which Sherwin O’Riordan Solicitors is actively striving towards. The firm, which has 60% female employees, is constantly working towards higher standards of gender equality, diversity and inclusion.

Commenting on the initiative, James Sherwin, Managing Partner at Sherwin O’Riordan said; “for us International Women’s Day is not just a one-day celebration, but a year-round initiative. Within our own workplace, Sherwin O’Riordan is an equal opportunities employer, championing equality, providing flexibility, and offering realistic work/life balance. Our female staff range from Partner, Senior Associate, and Solicitors to trainee solicitors and legal executive roles. We are proud that women comprise over 60% of our team, all of whom play an integral role in the success of the business.”

He added; “The gender tables are being turned in the legal profession, with the majority of solicitors now female. In 2014, we became the first legal profession in the world to have a female majority. Once a career largely dominated by men, new figures published by the Law Society reveal 52% of practising solicitors are now women.”

Established in 2002, Sherwin O’Riordan is a firm of highly experienced solicitors with speciality and expertise in advising growing SMEs in Ireland on commercial and business law, employment, commercial litigation and dispute resolution and commercial property. The company provide a wide range of services to both corporate and private clients.

"We simply cannot fault the service we receive from SOR. They have specialist solicitors in each area where we need advice and we’ve had contact with 4 different partners during the last 14 months, and the experience has been the same each time. Really really good."
